Our Program and Extra-Curricular Activities
Our full-day Montessori program (2.5 - 6 years old) is designed to help boost children’s learning experience and to support their physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development with innovative Montessori methods.
We offer a comprehensive curriculum which not only include the seven learning areas of Montessori, but we also provide a variety of extra-curricular activities such as Mandarin, Ping-pong, Science, Yoga, Dance, and Live Music
Montessori in Seven Areas
Culture
We introduce four main areas in culture curriculum: geography history, zoology and botany. Each area we have prepared sets nomenclature cards and puzzle activities. Birthday celebrations will be part of the history curriculum too.
Language
In the language area, tracing the outline of metal insets prepares the hand and arm muscles for drawing and writing. The child can match the individual letters of the movable alphabet with the sandpaper letters, tracing their shape with his fingers, thus reinforcing his visual recognition of the letters. The child then sounds out and constructs the names of the simple objects with the letters.
Practical Life
Practical life area is one of five areas in the classroom environment. Activities here built on the children’s natural interests and help the children develop good work habits, concentration, eye-hand coordination, a lengthened attention and control of body parts.
Mathematics
In the mathematics area, the number rods enable the child to get a physical sense of quantity and then to associate this with the corresponding numeric symbols from one to ten. The spindle boxes reinforce this skill and introduce the concepts of zero and sets of numbers. The decimal beads show the child visually how to build up to the quantity of 1,000 and the value of place.
Concrete materials have been designed to represent all types of quantities based on the decimal system of units, tens, hundred, and thousands. If children have access to mathematical equipment in their early years, they can easily and joyfully assimilate many facts and skills of arithmetic.
Sensorial
Our classroom provides a wide range of sensorial materials designed to assist the children develop the ability to make judgements; to compare and discriminate on the basis of size, shape, weight, texture, colour and temperature; to store up impressions in his muscular memory and to develop the use of certain muscles and motions.
Music & Art
Music and movement as well as creative arts are counted as integral parts of the Montessori program.
Peace Education
We introduce peace education to the children and support them with conflict resolution and empathy to other people and creatures in our world. With a globalized vision, children will become promising future generation with the peaceful mind.
